A few years ago when Blender 2.8 came out, we released the Blender 2.8 Fundamentals. This series of videos was instrumental in teaching Blender to many newcomers at the time.
Now we finally have an updated version of the course available for the latest versions of Blender.
Have a look at the Blender Fundamentals 4.5 LTS.
The new course is based on Blender 4.5 LTS (long term support) to make it easier to update the course over time. Once Blender 5.2 comes around, the course will be updated to match the features, shortcuts and UI.
The format also changed. Instead of a video series it's a hybrid of text, images and videos. This makes the content faster to produce, edit and maintain.
As you follow the chapters we give a fundamental overview of every major area of Blender. This is oriented around the idea of a production where assets needs to be modeled, designed, rigged, shaded, rendered, etc. Even topics such as project management are included.
Multiple artists from the Blender Studio team contributed to this to cover everything that's important.
Topics such as animation and grease pencil are still in progress, but can be accessed as separate courses for now.
The lessons are complete but can always be improved. When you stumble over a lesson, get stuck or have questions, you can always leave a comment and get help. Your questions and feedback can then be integrated into the course to help others get over the same hurdles faster.
How do you plan to promote it ? Will it be "findable" on Blender.org under a menu or so ? With Youtube video its easy, but with "internet"/blog/webpage it is becoming harder. Thx again for the free course :-)
@Francis Jasmin Nothing has been decided yet. Promoting it directly via the official Blender websites is likely the way to go. But yeah most people will rather look on YouTube. An official video trailer on the Blender YouTube channel could help with that.
I took a quick look into the course, seem very well done !!
